Dimiter Jordanov
Oboist & Oboe specialist
Born in Varna, Bulgaria,
Dimiter Jordanov began his oboe studiesat an
early age, ultimately graduating from the
Bulgarian National Conservatory of Music and
University of Montreal.
Dimiter has performed recitals and chamber music
in Italy, France, Russia, Germany,
Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Canada, U.S.A.
etc. He has been working in his home country
with Sofia Opera Orchestra as well as with the
Bulgarian Symphony Radio Orchestra in Sofia. He
has worked with prestigious conductors such as:
Walter Weler, Leonard Bernstein, Yehudi Menuhin,
Christobald Halfter, Charles Dutoit, Vladi
Simeonov, Gabriele Ferro etc. He has won several
competitions: "Concertino Prague" 4th prize,
Rome International Festival for chamber music,
1st prize and Bulgarian National Competition,
2nd prize.
Since 1992 Dimiter Jordanov
has been actively present on the musical scene
in Quebec, Canada, freelancing with Quebec
Symphony Orchestra, Laval Symphony, Trois
Rivières Symphony, Société de Musique
Contemporaine du Québec, Montreal Baroque
Orchestra (early instruments), Montérégie
Symphony. He has been a musical director of
Société des Vents de Montréal with whom he
released a CD with French Music for winds and
piano (CBC Records).
Since establishing his
business in 1998, he has received training at
the Oboe factories in England – Howarth (1999)
and in France - Marigaux (2001) and Rigoutat
(2002). He has regularly given master classes
for reed making in Canada, Bulgaria, Switzerland
and France.
